Reimagining SeedSigner
Security you can see. Transparency you can touch. This redesigned SeedSigner enclosure features a locking system, honoring the "Don't Trust, Verify" ethos through intentional industrial design.
Overview
I focused on making hardware transparency the central design element. By replacing permanent enclosures with a clever locking system, I created a bridge between rugged protection and the open-source need for physical verification.
What I did:
Developed a locking system at the top, allowing the entire case to be secured or opened without tools.
Prioritized internal visibility, ensuring users can easily access and inspect the PCB and chips to verify hardware integrity.
Refined button ergonomics and aesthetics to provide a more tactile and premium feel during transaction signing.
Enhanced the camera's visual presence on the rear to emphasize the device's secure, air-gapped nature.
Engineered the geometry for 3D printing, keeping the design simple to manufacture while maintaining a professional industrial look.

I noticed that while SeedSigner offered ultimate digital transparency, its physical enclosure was too restrictive, so I set out to design a case that makes hardware inspection as seamless as the software itself.

Challenge
Most SeedSigner cases are hard to open once they are put together. This makes it difficult for users to check the hardware inside, which goes against the idea of "don't trust, verify."

Solution
I created a simple 3D-printable case featuring a special "Orange Lock" on top. By pulling out this single part, you can open the device to see the chips—no tools or screws are ever needed.

Result
The new design looks great and makes it easy to see the chips and board. It’s a more user-friendly way to keep your Bitcoin safe while staying true to the open-source spirit.
